Our technical assistant, Helen Bourne, first entered the world of surveying back in 1999. She worked as a secretary/PA for a regional firm of surveyors for eight years before joining a local practice as office manager where she qualified with an HNC in Business Management. She then worked as operations manager for a helicopter charter company before subsequently returning to her roots as a property manager for both residential and commercial property. She qualified as AssocRICS in 2019.

Helen says,

“I have always worked full-time but since becoming a mother, I was keen to establish a work-life balance.  I sought a part time role and was very fortunate to join the team at Forge Property Consultants as a technical assistant, combining my skills and knowledge from an office managerial perspective and also as a surveyor.  I never really know what type of tasks are going to land in my inbox every day, either surveying or general office management!

“This morning, I finalised the arrangements with my colleagues and our guests for a Forge social event, which is coming up shortly.

“I effected the firm’s credit control – an important aspect to any firm’s cashflow; and dealt with property management issues, including creating and finalising an Assured Shorthold Tenancy and the health & safety aspects prior to the completing the letting, and also monitoring the deposits and rents received in the client account.

“I implemented advertising and marketing activities for an instruction Forge Property Consultants have received to sell five parcels of land by finalising the sales brochure, arranging the erection of the For Sale boards and uploading the sale details to the online portal.

“I advised one of our landlord clients on lease renewal terms and subsequently entered into negotiations with the tenant on their behalf.
